Testing Systems for Variable-Rate Nitrogen Application to Corn

Objectives: To evaluate the soil electrical conductivity (EC) meter and corn color measured by either aerial photographs or an in-field radiometer as tools for directing variable-rate N applications at a field scale. These tools were evaluated both in comparison to standard N recommendations and in terms of absolute agronomic and economic performance.
