Crop Modeling to Simulate Site-specific Development and Yield
(USDA-ARS)
Contact: Clyde Fraisse, 573.882.1148

The objective of this project is to evaluate the ability of two crop growth models, CERES-Maize and CROPGRO-Soybean, to simulate site-specific crop development and yield.

  • Soil samples, neutron probe moisture measurements, in-season biomass and harvest data have been collected from several sites within experimental fields.

  • Data collected during the 1997 and 1998 cropping seasons are being used to calibrate and evaluate the crop models as part of a project to develop a decision aid tool integrating crop models and GIS software.
