Lexington is located in Lafeyette County, Missouri. The dominant crops grown in the area are soybean, corn, and winter wheat. The Lexington demonstration site is located on a corn field that is in a corn-soybean rotation. The soils in the area were formed in silty loess from 8 to 90 feet in thickness underlain by limestone, shale, or sandstone bedrock.
