A case study: Adoption of Precision Agriculture Management in Missouri.

MU Departments of Agronomy, Agricultural Economics and Biological Engineering

A recurring issue for both agricultural producers and their advisors is whether precision agriculture management provides real-world benefits to those who adopt these technologies. While a certain segment of producers adopt the technologies because they feel they can see quick benefits to their farm operation, others wait to see more concrete proof that precision agriculture benefits in excess of its costs. This project is a case study of three Missouri farms within a major agriculture region in Missouri. The study will include a new adopter (1-2 years), one who adopted and then stopped, and one early and experienced adopter. Economic, social, environmental, and managerial aspects of the study farms will be analyzed with an emphasis on the successful aspects of their implementation.
